Pear OS 8 - Fast, Free and Incredibly Easy to Use Linux Base OS

Pear Linux is a French Ubuntu-based desktop Linux distribution. Some of its features include ease-of-use, custom user interface with a Mac OS X-style dockbar, and out-of-the-box support for many popular multimedia codecs.

Recommended Minimum System Requirements
  • 700 MHz processor (about Intel Celeron or better, 32 or 64 bit)
  • 512 MiB RAM (system memory)

  • VGA capable of 1024×768 screen resolution
  • Either a CD/DVD drive or a USB port for the installer media
  • Internet access is helpful
  • ATI (some may require the proprietary fglrx driver)
  • Intel (i915 or better, except GMA 500, aka “Poulsbo”)
  • NVidia (with their proprietary driver)
